“But her remark was not racist. That is an incorrect inference.”

Please Expound?

What is “racist” about it?

This whole thing reminds me of when Jerry Falwell slammed Desmond Tutu.

It was almost impossible to find the actual quote, but everyone was quick to condemn Falwell with all sorts of slander. He was absolutely vilified by the press of all stripes. We didn’t have the internet then so it was hard to find what he actually said. Naturally, I just assumed it must have been pretty bad, but was frustrated that nobody was reporting what he actually said. Then one day I found it. Here is the offending remark:

‘’If Bishop Tutu maintains that he speaks for the black people of South Africa, he’s a phony.’’

The thing is, not only did he say, “if”, but it was a true statement. The majority of blacks in South Africa were Zulu, and Tutu most definitely did NOT speak for them.

And in this case, here is Rosanne’s original tweet:

muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj

Where is the racism there. She is not talking about race. She’s talking about two sub-cultures. She is slamming an individual person (Valerie Jarrett), rather than any race.

And the first one to mention race is the racist.
