Both are offensive, and neither should happen.

That being said, you're feigning ignorance. There is a fairly sad history of racists referring to black people as monkeys, apes, etc., so it is rude and classless for someone to do that nowadays, amd pretty much begs for a backlash

I can't stand the mainstream media, but Roseanne tied and knotted the rope with which she was just hung.

“There is a fairly sad history of racists referring to black people as monkeys, apes, etc...”

Within the last 50 years?

FWIW, my Mom always called us kids “monkeys” - and we’re white. Although I am darker in skin color than VJ...

But still, what about Maher?

In 2013: “To determine whether he is in fact the love child of a human woman and an orangatan from the Brooklyn zoo,” Maher said. “Look, I’m not saying your mother was repeatedly ****ing an orangutan back in the 1940’s, I don’t know if that’s true I hope it’s not true. But given your face, your physique and your intelligence level and of course your hair, the American people deserve some real proof that your mother did not spend most nights in 1945 covering her body in banana oil sneaking into the monkey cage and compulsively humping an orange orangutan.”

Why is THAT acceptable, but saying someone looks like a cross between Muslim Brotherhood and the Planet of the Apes is not? Why is one “humor” and the other cause to have all trace of you removed from the planet?

And if she had said the same about Clarence Thomas, would anyone of the Left care?
