Has Watter’s World ever questioned todays youth about the meaning of Memorial Day???
My guess would be 30-35% do not know....
You are SO correct! Many would be horrified to know that when it was first celebrated in 1868, it was called Decoration Day because it was used to decorate the graves of both Union and Confederate soldiers who perished during the Civil War. Now that the "politically correct" have decided there are no confederate Civil War heroes worth remembering, they surely would not approve of the origins of Memorial Day!
My guess would be on the high side of 80-90%.
