A retired high school English teacher says a letter she received from President Trump would have barely earned passing marks, so she corrected the letter and sent it back to the White House.
Yvonne Mason, an Atlanta resident who retired this year after teaching middle and high school students in South Carolina for 17 years, corrected grammatical mistakes in the letter bearing Trump's signature, including 11 instances of improper capitalization of words like "president" and "state."
"If it had been written in middle school, I'd give it a C or C-plus," Mason told South Carolina's Greenville News. "If it had been written in high school, I'd give it a D."
She did not attach a letter grade in the letter she sent back to the White House.
Mason acknowledges the letter was likely written by a staffer. She received it after penning a letter requesting that Trump meet individually with the families who lost loved ones in the Feb. 14 high school shooting in Parkland, Fla.
"When you get letters from the highest level of government, you expect them to be at least mechanically correct," she told the newspaper.
"It's stylistically appalling," she added, comparing Trump's writing to the "exquisite" letters she's received from South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham's (R) office.
The teacher said the White House response did not address her request specifically.

The word President was capitalized until George W. Bush became President. On that day the petty little pukes at the NYT and various other media outlets changed the rule. It was always President Clinton an president Bush.
Of course, all of us flyover rube barely-literate morons were supposed to not notice.
They can have their fun. I have capitalized President throughout. I even used President Obama.
OMG—a punctuation Goddess—I was expecting Queen Mab.
Can she read long-hand? I don’t know what school she went to, but we were taught to capitalize the words President, and State. I mean, my employer was The New York State Department of Correctional Services...not the new york state department of correctional services. And the Superintendent who ran the prison wasn’t superintendent. Nor was the Commissioner of Corrections, commissioner of corrections. This woman is batty, and makes up her own rules. Obviously she’s never completed a dissertation or thesis properly. She probably doesn’t even know the Elements of Style by Strunk and White.
LOL. He’d have a field day correcting the grammar of 80% of inner city teachers.
Thank you for posting that.
I tried to download it from "The Hill" site several times, unsuccessfully.
It may have been taken down for the usual reasons. Just wish it had been scanned so it was legible.
This delusional teacher is clueless... She doesn't realize that many forum members, among others, fail deliberately to capitalize certain names and nouns as editorial comments; among them :
teachers
progressives
dimocratics
dimocrats
feminists
losers
muslims
koranimals
elected criminals
social warriors
antifa
msm
black power
And many others too numerous to mention.
Her letter was, if nothing else, humorously entertaining.
Thank God she's not a member of FR.
It looks like many of her ‘corrections’ are simply differences of opinion on grammar or word usage, particularly regarding the capitalization of nouns. For example, Trump had capitalized the word “Nation”, which IMHO is perfectedly acceptable usage. In context the Nation is clearly a proper noun not a common noun. Ditto “States” and “Federal Government”.
I would say that most of her other corrections are similarly spurious.
Oh Lord.
She has hardly any real corrections. The only valid ones are all about capitalization, along with nothing but pointless remarks about the use of words.
Worst of all is her OMG at the bottom.
And her claim that it does not address her request.
What an idiot....people don’t write non formal letters formally!!!!
The pathetic thing is that taxpayer money supports this loser “educator”. What an absolute poltroon.
Oops, that was *her* letter, haha. Nervermind.
She’s wee weed up and has been directed who’s ass to kick, while suckin’ on a Slurpee!
I forgot the most important point : her penmanship is atrocious. I give her a charitable first grade level skill and, for an adult, a D-
Ignorant self-absorbed Twit, properly capitalized as being the proper name of a group of people belonging together, and known by that name, you know, like Massholes or some such. A "rule" is a directive issued by an agency under its regulatory authority developed and promulgated in accordance with the rule making procedures established in the Administrative Procedures Act (a properly capitalized phrase because it is the title of an act of Congress - properly capitalized as the proper name of an organization that is widely recognized and known by such name, having been established in the Constitution, another properly capitalized proper name being the title of a document that is widely known and recognized except by self-absorbed leftist Twits).
” She received it after penning a letter requesting that Trump meet individually with the families who lost loved ones in the Feb. 14 high school shooting in Parkland, Fla.”
Obviously Yvonne doesn’t have the intelligence to understand that the shooting and killing is the newsworthy aspect of the Parkland incident.
Go ahead, Yvonne, and give an honest grade to letters from many of SC’s high school seniors. I bet 50%+ are functionally illiterate. Nice legacy, sweetheart.

She probably doesn’t understand that conventions of grammar and spelling are usually if not always arbitrary and temporary.
Why didn’t she correct Michelle Odrama when she said that her ancestors rode the underground RR?

Never heard a F-ing word about that.
Self-righteousness, sanctimony, and arrogance on display.
