Hollings from South Carolina the Gov who put the Confederate Battle Flag on the SC State Flag in the 60's - was a racist who stayed democrat - and he did the 'flag switch... to give the finger to the civil rights movement.
Like I said, there are some exceptions but for the most part southern racists stayed southern racists and stayed democrat.
Then to add insult to injury democrats flipped their choice of 'victim' using the same tactics against conservatives that they had used against blacks... And where once a person was condemned for saying anything good about a black person (and the rights they should have), democrats flipped it to 'you can't say anything bad about black people or culture' and their 'rights' extended to 'hurt feelings'...
Which was equally heavy handed and horrible bringing about many of the toxic problems we see in today's black community.
My point is white democrats have been thugs and bullies for decades and switching victims is NOT an ethical change.
