President Donald Trump wrote a letter to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un saying that their planned summit next month in Singapore was cancelled.
The meeting, which would have marked the first face-to-face encounter between a sitting U.S. president and a North Korean leader, was set for June 12 in the southeastern Asian island city state.
"Sadly, based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting," Trump wrote in the letter, which was released Thursday morning.

“I watched an MSNBC report while in the dentist chair, which was more painful than the dental work.”.....
Which was it? Watching MSNBC, sitting in the dentist chair or the actual dental work? I’m confused..... Not really, I know you meant watching MSNBC,
Yes.
We have got to quit buying Chinese stuff!
Well I think most of the other freepers did fill in the blanks, but in a nutshell Trump is negotiating.
p
Yes they did.☺
Trump can’t explain his “art of the deal” to the idiots in our own country...who are too eager to jump his every move as negative .. in order to do an “art of the deal” with a foreign dictator (and not show his hand.).
Know when to hold them and know when to fold them and know when to walk away. Playing chicken is not for the non gambler.
You KNEW Trump was not going to make it look easy and eager to meet this rocket man.. that’s not how ya’ win.
Little Rocketman = Kim Chung King
You’d think they’d accept win-win for a change. But some people believe that life is a zero-sum game. They won’t be happy unless the US is getting burned in the bargain.
Makes no sense. They asked to meet us. What changed?

The beauty part is the MSM plays its part, unwittingly, by going into full hysteria mode.
A really good deal requires one to really be willing to walk away. Reminds me long ago, my Mom got a really good deal on a new car because she really *didn’t* care if she got the car. If the salesman know you actually, really want a particular car, they’ve got you. The most the salesman could coax out of my Mom about the car is, “well... it’s nice”.
You are right he wants to remain in power AND reap the benefits.

It always seemed to me that Trump had to solve the problem of how to elevate the NK standard of living without pouring tons of taxpayer funds into that country.
Capitalism is the obvious solution. A little entrepreneur-ship would get it started. Decades to finish. But it would get there.
But the bigger problem is that solution is inconsistent with Kims obvious desire to remain absolute dictator and keep on piling up those $Billions.
Tough problem. I dont know the answer. But it would be a lot easier if Karl Marx had died young.
If it were JFKerry, he’d be publicly begging little Kim to reconsider, and overlook America’s domineering ways and pwease pwetty pwease come and make piece wiff us. No sense of leverage or how to see through the BS.
“I predict success with this approach.”
I believe you’re right.
President Trump doesn’t do the dilly-dally dance of previous administrations. It’s “either / or” with him.
Good job. Right action. Not quite the way I would have written it but it isn’t my letter. I think the NORKS will have some trouble translating the words to the same meanings. I’m trusting though that State has ome people who understand these things and can provide some coaching.
It didn’t seem so meaningless a month ago.

It did to me.
