U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers and their maritime counterparts seized 284 pounds of fentanyl between Oct. 1, 2017, and April 30.
“There is a crisis at our southwest border — large quantities of dangerous and illicit drugs, such as fentanyl, are pouring into our country in record numbers," DHS spokeswoman Katie Waldman told the Washington Examiner.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opiate painkiller and is 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Just three years ago, CBP did not even track even track fentanyl seizures, but the continued growing demand from U.S. consumers prompted drug traffickers to begin shipping it to the states, often through the mail.

Carfentanil is scary stuff. Last year two guys were arrested in Maryland for importing 400-500 grams, in addition to Fentanyl. That’s 20 - 25 million fatal doses.

Yes that’s also true.......the idea for the dealers is to wean people to the stronger fentanyl so they lace the common drug with it.....which because they don’t know it’s laced they just think the dealer has the ‘good stuff’ so it retains the dealers constant “customers”............if some die no skin off their nose as the demand is always there..
Philadelphia, Chicago and others too.....druggies are always “chasing the Dragon” for the next greater high to their death, there is no good ending on that road but death.
It’s ok. Fentanyl is just doing the work that lazy American opioids won’t do.

Yes I’ve read several stories of it’s deadly trail it leaves behind it. Dealers have no concern for who they sell it to or deaths from. The lines for drugs never ceases.
Good glad to help....Personally I’ve not had family or known others on drugs.....but I’ve acquired an interest on what it is and why people get so involved with them.
Also Asians do not forget the past...might be why China’s sending so much here is they recall the Opium wars that took their country down the tubes. I’d prefer not thinking that way but it is possible.

Oh holy poop, I didn’t think I needed a /s. I am disgusted with our lack of a southern border and Lefty excuses. I am not in favor of fentanyl and I am horrified by all the deaths.
I hear you . But if there wasn’t a market for this crap the drug barons would be out of business .
