I think this is a trial balloon.
What Penn is effectively saying is, “We’ll squash the Meuller probe if you stop trying to drag out the dirt on Brennan, Comey, Clapper, et al.”
Penn is very worried that this could actually end up ensnaring Hillary and Obama. He can make the case (I believe people are making the case) that if this continues, Obama could face charges, and that would spark outright rioting across the country. Plus Hillary, having nothing left to lose, could go nuclear and start shoveling out all the dirt the Clintonistas have been gathering over the years/decades.
Yes, it was an attempted coup, and they are guilty as hell, but it didn’t work and now they want to let bygones be bygones and “put the election behind us”.
I wonder if Trump will go for it.
Penn wants us to believe these are good people who have gone astray.
Good people don’t use the power of government to conduct sting operations against political opponents.
