Yes he is. This has become a cultural phenomenon IMHO with multiple factors, and or including as he mentioned Ritalin, SSRI drugs, lack of father figures, lack of consistent parenting ( foster kids moving around ), the effects of "e communications and media" aka snapchat, instagram, FB etc that are having possibly corrosive effects on feelings of community and connective-ness, diet, exercise, and Faith. Tangent is do we need to revisit institutionalization, no one will go near that subject matter.
Also the social media generation has a dysfunctional desire to be “known by their peers”. “Known” negatively, positively doesn’t matter just “known”; being a mass murder is definitely “being known”!
