Wouldn't the IG, if he is such a stand up man, be just as disgusted as we are with the lawlessness of the FBI and the DOJ and want them cleaned up.

It is an unconscious bias/restraint that wishes to preserve the institution for the long-term. They don't want to destroy the institutions in order to save them. They are the products of those institutions. The reality is that no institution can investigate themselves objectively.

In the military, the Inspector Generals are strongly educated in the privileges of Command, and will not cross that.

They are meticulous about following the letter and spirit of the law and regulations, and do not counter a commander without plenty of due process and thorough, scrupulous investigation.

However, if a commander commits an illegal order, act or any other infraction, the IG MUST act on it, as there is an appeal process that will involve the chain of command upward.

There are a lot of barracks lawyers (people who think they know it all) who think the IG is there either to persecute the commanders, or do their bidding like toadies, but that is not the case.

I guess I’m an eternal optimist and thought that this just may be the one time that the IG would be so outraged by what he is finding that his bias for the institutions would be overridden.

Guess time will tell, we will know SOON or not. LOL
