Today Cthulhu has become an atheist/agnostic way of giving the middle finger to religious belief and moral absolutes.

In my youth , they would have blamed comic books or rock and roll.
Sometimes crazy is just crazy. It's how the "adults" around the insane person react that's important to prevent this.
