The iron cross did not originate with the Nazis. The Nazis simply continued the use of the iron cross.
Hitler, Goering and Rommel ALL earned their (first) iron cross in WWI before the Nazi party existed.
Posting all the pictures in the world will not alter these facts.

Matt is technically correct that the Iron Cross was used in Germany for 100 years before the Nazi era. In fact, Germany issues a
version of the Iron Cross today. That said, this animal in Santa Fe seemed to be inspired by the Nazi association with the Iron Cross. He wore a symbol associated with the WWII era Japanese Empire, too.
