Notice how many reporters (and others) get in trouble from their “tweets”. In the pre-tweet days, reporters could write outrageous things and their editors would inject a sense of accuracy or balance. With the 24-hour news cycle and killer competition, the reporters are desperately trying to be the first to break a story by means of instant tweets and they no longer have adults checking their excesses. The same goes for celebrities whose agents were often the adult in the room.
