For the very first time since April of last year, when Real Clear Politics first started monitoring averages, the Democrat advantage in the generic ballot has dipped below 5 percent.
As of right now, the trend is with the GOP and President Trump has only started to make his case to turn out his base in November.
Moreover, Democrats have no issue to run on — no ideas, unless you count Russia! Russia! Russia! Impeach! Impeach! Impeach! Stormy! Stormy! Stormy!
As Trump begins to remind voters that a House takeover by Democrats will almost certainly result in a futile and year-long kangaroo impeachment trial, he should be able to energize a base which is not only eager to see this Russian Hoax come to an end, but to hand the establishment media yet-another electoral defeat.
As far as the fate of the Senate, Republicans actually are likely to pick up a couple of seats, maybe more, and hold that chamber without a sweat.
At least as of now, the GOP has every reason to be happier than Democrats with these polls and the even more important trends.

I never paid much attention to the reports on this topic in past months, and don’t now either - it’s only May and a lot can happen and a lot can change in 5+ months. We really only need to see Trump and some in the GOP continue to try to do the rights things, and not worry about what the Dims or the media think. Also, it is NEVER good in politics to be cocky.
It seems to me the press and dems have given up on reason and a message and are just trying to win on the backs of hyped up rabid left voters.

Doesn’t this go against what commonly happens in midterms? I thought it was expected that the party opposite the sitting president usually picks up seats.
Everything depends on what happens in Congress over the summer. We are right on schedule for a legislative train wreck in September unless the Pubbies get their “stuff” together this summer and pass a budget that includes Trumps priorities.
