I have a good friend I call my “stealth Israeli friend.”
Blond, Nordic-looking, although his father was a distinguished Rabbi. Generic British last name (Smith), carries both an Israeli and UK passport. Crisp, upper-class, Brit accent. Went to all the right schools.
He is intertwined socially and professionally with people in the media in the USA and the UK. He has been very careful not to disclose he is Jewish, something he learned growing up in England. Subtle, close-cropped beard.
I found out he was Jewish only because I sat next to him in Shul one day. He specifically asked me to not reveal he was Jewish, as it would hurt his career.
Very simply, pretty much all the media people become vehement anti-Semites when the last known Jew leaves the room, especially in NYC and especially when drunk.
Most of them just don’t like us. They consider us crass money-grubbers and all the usual stereotypes.
Why do the people who specialize in talking about bad news promote bad news?</DUH>
If it bleeds, it leads. Violence is a good thing to the media.
