MSNBC reporter Andrea Mitchell said it was "appalling" that the U.S. moved its Israeli embassy to Jerusalem without obtaining any concessions from Israel.
Mitchell expressed astonishment at the Trump administration placing the blame for violence solely on Hamas, who instigated riots along the border in Gaza. White House principal deputy press secretary Raj Shah on Monday did not call for Israel to soften its response to the riots, leading Mitchell to decry the administration’s support for Israel.
"I've never seen anything like that," Mitchell said. "Even the strongest supporters of Israel in administrations Republican and Democratic would at that point say, ‘Be proportional and be cautionary.’"
She blamed Israel’s actions on their empowerment due to closeness with the administration, specifically on Iran.
"There was no restraint," Mitchell said. "Israel is now so empowered because of the administration's enmity with Iran that they now feel, clearly, that they can do anything."
She opined that it was "appalling" that the U.S. moved its embassy to Jerusalem without extracting concessions from Israel on its settlement-building.
"It's just to me appalling that we have no vision at all, we got nothing for it, no pullback on settlements. There's no balancing act here," Mitchell said.

Like what,for example? Our Congress passed a motion that recognized the capital as being in Jerusalem. No other president before or probably in the future did not have the courage to actually do it.
Trump did it in a matter of weeks simply by changing the shingle on the building.
I am so passed listening to these people who’ve been coming into our rooms for years and years to tell us nothing.
I would be curious to hear what Charles Krauthammer, another huge Never Trumper, has to say about Trump now.
Seems to me, that this president recognizes that all the money given to the PLO etc has gone for weaponry and to fight Israel.

Regardless of one’s opinion of a Trump, this statement clearly conflicts with reality. Obviously Trump has a vision in this matter. It just isn’t one Mitchell approves of.

I find it an interesting assumption that the US is responsible for Israeli internal affairs.
I would rather say “Good luck boys! We will sell you what you need!” and let them deal with their own problems.

So andrea, if the palisimians are trying to tear your fence down with the expressed purpose of flooding in, destroying your infrastructure, and murdering, raping, and maiming your citizens be they man, woman and child because of a building, what is the appropriate response? Furthermore, what concessions from isreal do we need? This is not a negotiation, we are simply opening a mutually agreed upon facility within which to conduct diplomacy between the US and Isreal. If the palisimians want to go apes$hit bazonkazoids over it, then isreal has the right to deal with these subhumans that evolution somehow forgot in any way they see fit. Andrea, do you scold the parents when their toddlers throw a meltdown level tanty? Do you reward the toddler when he throws one? Palisimians are worse than toddlers. If you saw an adult throw an epic tanty I think you wouldnt be too impressed with it, but for some reason it seems to be ok for this group to perform hair trigger violence for any reason no matter how minute.
