Internal Republican polls show ex-coal CEO and former convict Don Blankenship in the lead a day before West Virginias Republican Senate primary, prompting more GOP fears about a Blankenship surge.
SNIP
Some Republicans worry Blankenships controversial past could jeopardize their chances at unseating Manchin.
In a last-ditch effort to suppress Blankenship, Trump on Monday urged voters to reject the former coal executive and instead vote for either Jenkins or Morrisey on Tuesday.
To the great people of West Virginia we have, together, a really great chance to keep making a big difference, the president wrote on Twitter.
Problem is, Don Blankenship, currently running for Senate, cant win the General Election in your State...No way! Remember Alabama. Vote Rep. Jenkins or A.G. Morrisey!

So now Trump is the “GOPe” as well?
A convicted felon who has spent time in prison is probably not the best candidate to put up in a general election if you want to win a seat.
Indeed - they'd probably beat Manchin easily and gain the seat for the GOP since they lack having a criminal conviction and prison sentence on their resume' - that's a serious sign of weakness.
When the vote is split 3 ways, the overwhelming majority can reject him but he could still end up prevailing.
No he wasn't. He was removed because he told Federal Judge Diktator tyrants to go F*** themselves. That's the main thing I liked about him.
Either Brooks or Strange would have easily held the seat in a landslide.
Strange would have been toppled by charges of corruption and collusion with the Governor (kicked out of office) in a manner of Rod Blagojevich in Illinois.
Strange would have been hammered with corruption accusations, and they would have got him.
Brooks would have likely held it in a landslide, and so too would have Moore absent the accusations, and he would have won it as a squeaker if the Republican party had not deliberately stabbed him in the back.
Manchin is poised to lose in a landslide - so why nominate the only candidate that could allow him to keep the seat in Dem hands? How does that make a bit of sense?
I have put forth no opinion expressing a preference for any of the WV candidates. I see problems with all of them.
We need to sort out all the behind the scenes antics going on ASAP.
Okay, I missed that. Who's the convicted felon? I know Blankenship was convicted of a misdemeanor, but I didn't know any candidate was convicted of a felony.
Who are you talking about?
> “Indeed - they’d probably beat Manchin easily and gain the seat for the GOP since they lack having a criminal conviction and prison sentence on their resume’ - that’s a serious sign of weakness.”
Seems that way to those that are not aware of the details.
If Blankenship drops out or is defeated tomorrow, either Morrisey or Jenkins will still likely lose to Manchin because they are weak candidates. Not having convictions on their record does not help them in the least.
The question of interest is how is it that WVA voters are putting Blankenship with a known misdemeanor conviction on his record, how is he in the lead? WVA voters are not stupid. They see something in him, they see past the misdemeanor. That makes this race interesting and worth looking into what the voters see.
The WVA voters see honesty and integrity and a demonstrated willingness on the part of Blankenship to put workers ahead of his own record and freedom.

You’re a liar.
I stand corrected on that detail - that hardly makes someone the ideal candidate as a nominee is a criminal convict who spent a year in prison for a mining disaster that killed 29 people because the conviction was a “misdemeanor.”
I’ve been called a lot of things in my life. Hell a few of them are even true. I’ve done things I’m not proud of. But at least being a shill for a man who killed 29 miners for money is not one of them. We are done.
You’re a liar and you know you are a liar.
Looks like we have both made it clear what we think of each other. Have a nice day.
You’re a lair. That is the truth. You lied in your post. I did not. You are a liar.
“..Is this true? This sounds like something government and especially the Idiot Obama government would pull. ..”
I worked in industry and safety was one of several hats I wore. I guarantee to you that if the mine inspectors are like some of the OSHA inspectors who came to our plant, they are fully capable. Not all, but some of the years OSHA inspectors came they were like Nazi storm troopers. They met with the union first, and then came in to hurt the company as much as they could.
You are shill for a mass murderer. I hope Blankenship burns in Hell for all eternity, along with his lawyers and apologists. I have nothing further to say on this subject and will not respond to any further commentary from someone who supports such evil.
You stupid ass. He was convicted of a misdemeanor. You really arte a pos liar.
Yep... and OJ Simpson was acquitted entirely. Crazy what high priced lawyers can do for you. I hope Blankenship and the Juice are cellmates in Hell.
You are still a liar. OJ was prosecuted for murder. Blankenship was prosecuted for a misdemeanor... skirting mine safety standards.
You are a stone cold, outed liar. Get off this board you lying pos.
You are a liar.
You can shill for your killer buddy all you want. But one day he will answer in a court where his money and lawyers won’t be able to save him. There are twenty nine miners waiting for their chance to speak before The Judgement Throne. If I were him, or any of his apologists, I’d plan on being buried in an asbestos suit.
And now I really am done with you.
You are a liar and proven to be so right here on this forum You are a lying pos. Get off this board you lying slime.
