Well, two thumbs up for President Truman for discontinuing the ridiculous plan of FDR and for recognizing the Nation of Israel right away in 1948.
Truman gets credit for that, though it's fair to note he embargoed arms to Israel, while selling them to the Arabs. As did most of the world. American arms did get there surreptitiously, many turned a blind eye. And he didn't fight his wife over here rule that no Jews were allowed in their house. Presumably including his clothing store partner.
