A major gang crackdown involving a variety of state and local agencies, and aimed at disrupting Mexican Mafia operations in Orange County, has yielded 85 arrests and taken “middle management” gang leaders off the streets, officials announced Wednesday.

Sucks being middle-management and a fall guy for leaders. It’s the same in the oil and tech industries when things tank.

I disagree. This appears to be solely a state effort to polish its sanctuary state appearance and put forward a high profile LEO bust on gangs.

Prolly a bit of asset forfeiture in there as well.

Why waste DOJ resources on a state which both doesn’t care and doesn’t cooperate with feds?

“Oh goody they got some low level MS13.”

MS-13 is Honduran for the most part. The article says these were Mexican mafia.

I am old enough to remember a Southern California that saw street gangs as an ‘Eastern big city’ kind of problem. Life in SoCal was much nicer in the 50s—except for maybe the smog.

Will Becerra hold them for ICE or release them on bail? Since he’s emptying the prisons of drug criminals, they won’t spend any time behind bars.

Jerry Brown and Pelosi must be terribly conflicted on how to respond. Expect them to be silent.

I here John Cox on KFI frequently, and hear his ads on the radio, I hope he wins, so here is the only tip he needs to secure the Election as Governor.

On Day One, I will declare California in a State of Emergency and immediately Petition the Federal Government to Put Military Troops on the Southern Border to STOP THIS CRIMINAL INVASION as Required by the US Constitution.

Article 4, section 4

“The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.”

...and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened)...

Unfortunately, this is the key. The California Legislature is a full time legislature. It is in session all year round. It's the legislature that has to apply to the federal entity for military protection. Unless the legislature is on board for this, the governor can't make that application alone.

Force the Issue and Shut the entire State down, make them over ride everything until they say Uncle, then Demand the petition include the Roundup Of those current Criminal Invaders unlawfully inhabitating our State.

The only way that can be done is if California satisfies the requirements of the Insurrection Act of 1807. When South Carolina's forces fired on Fort Sumter, that satisfied the conditions, and President Lincoln invoked the act. That gave him tremendous powers to put down the insurrection.

So far, agents of the state of California have not challenged agents of the federal government in a firefight. Nor have agents of the state openly defied a federal court order or an Act of Congress like Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama did during the integration battles of the Fifties and Sixties. California's passive resistance does not yet constitute an insurrection under the 1807 law. Once California crosses that line, the state can be declared in insurrection by the president, and the federal entity can do what it needs to do to bring California back into harmony with the rest of the Union.

Further, thanks to precedents left over from the Civil War, a pacified California could have its statehood suspended until it writes a new constitution and establishes a new government satisfactory to Congress.
