Foreign agents attacked American citizens on the streets of DC. Can Americans bring them to justice?
Lucy Usoyan sensed danger. It was the afternoon of May 16, 2017, and Usoyan was among the Kurdish protesters outside the residence of Turkeys ambassador to the United States. They were there to demonstrate against Turkeys leader, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was in town for his first meeting with President Donald Trump in the US.
Kurdish bitch! Usoyan heard as the demonstrators crossed Massachusetts Avenue. In front of the residence, a large group of men had gathered. Die, Kurds! they shouted. Kill the terrorists!
Usoyan, 35, is an Alexandria resident and US citizen. But shes ethnically Kurdish, which makes her a blood enemy in the eyes of some Turkish ultranationalists. Watching the men gathered outside the ambassadors Sheridan Circle home, she noticed that the police on the scene seemed outnumbered.
This doesnt seem right to me, she recalls thinking. Look how many of them there are. This worries me.
Across Turkey, Erdogans regime had squelched dissent by beating up demonstrators and jailing dissidents. It also had a reputation for undiplomatic behavior abroad. Turkish guards had broken the nose of an Ecuadorian lawmaker and scuffled with employees and protesters at the Brookings Institution in 2016. But this was the capital of American democracy, where citizens like Lucy Usoyan believe they have the right to speak without fear.

Long well written article. With some photos and details I've not seen or read before.
It also reinforces a comment I've made about Erdogan the Islamist. "He hears what he wants to hear, and then lies about it".
This incident should have been met with the closure of the US embassy in Turkey, and the expulsion of all Turkish embassy staff in the US, until such time that Turkey waived diplomatic unity and sent these thugs back for trial. Turkey is an enemy of America. It needs to be treated as such.
Noriega in Panama had his goons beat the sh*t out of Americans and he paid the price. Turkey is getting away with so much more here and abroad. I find it hard to believe Turkey is that essential of a NATO ally. What does Turkey provide America? The airbase is not essential anymore. I trust the Kurds much more. They are not perfect with some of their own ideology but they aren’t trying to be an empire and act like barbaric Islamic a-holes.
Ho hum...Turkey is still a NATO ally, the Kurds are still getting crushed in Northern Syria, and the AK Party just announced Erdogan will be running for a second term as President as his main opposition leader sits in an Istanbul jail.
The United States isn’t going to anything about this despot, so if you’re pro-Kurd you might as well get used to being disappointed.
It is very clear that Erdogan the Islamist is an enemy of all free nations and people who support them.
Not all Turks support him, but he is now the Dictator. If you dispute that publicly in Turkey, you go to jail. And you have your life ruined.
So, here we are.
“What does Turkey provide America? “
Olive oil, fava beans, tahini, and canned Dolmades.

Real USAians demand that USGov enforce proper USA laws. It has _nothing_ to do with the Kurds or the Turkey. The turkeys that assaulted need to be fully prosecuted.
