I’m sure this had nothing to do with it.
“We had a raid,” he said, “with federal marshals that were armed, that came in, evacuated our factory, shut down production, sent our employees home and confiscated wood.”
Yet another in a long line of disasters Obama inflicted on America.
I have a Les Paul solid-body and another semi-hollow body. The versatility of the semi-hollow is sheer joy.
Gibson guitars from all three divisions, especially those from Memphis and from their Custom Shop, are my personal favorites and I do love my Les Pauls, however...
Based upon my recent experiences, what people have said about Gibsons quality being so bad is accurate, especially those from Gibson USA. Their quality is hit or miss.
In the last couple of years, Ive purchased 3 2016 Les Pauls, 2 Studios and 1 Standard, and one 2017 ES-335.
Of those four new guitars, two had broken tone knobs that fell off the guitar when I took the guitar out of the case for the first time and had to be replaced and the upgraded pick guard on the ES335 is damaged. Their hard shell cases are nice, but all needed to be vacuumed due to all the loose wood shavings and debris in the case. Not what I expected with a brand new guitar, especially a new $2K guitar.
Of the 2 Swamp Ash Studios, the frets on one are smooth and perfect and it sounds nice!
However, the ends of the frets on the other are unfinished, rough and SHARP. Ive never quite been happy with its sound, either. And, fwiw, both Studios also have an intermittent ground issue/hum issue that is beyond annoying.
I also have a 2011 LP Custom with an ebony fret board that was pricey, but it is flawless. Simply fantastic in every way. Im not sure you get what you pay for, as the Custom Shop guitars are outrageously expensive, but this one and the others Ive seen and touched have all been perfect.
I hope the Gibson Guitar part of Gibson can be split off from the rest of the mess and they can just be a guitar maker again.
Hip Hop is enjoying its day, but sooner or later music will return to the guitar and I hope Gibson will still be around for that day, too.
Knew this was coming.
I’m a Fender guy anyway. Y’all can keep the Gibsons.
Geez, and I was hoping to buy a Les Paul Standard one day.
.
Got too greedy!
The best need not do the crap they’ve been doing lately.
.
Also, If anyone wants a good laugh, my first guitar was a Rockster. I think it was one or two hundred bucks when I was a wee teen. I can’t even find pictures of one.
