Gabriela Hernandez and her two boys joined the "migrant caravan" of travelers across Mexico toward the United States, some hoping to cross the border. This is her story of the journey, compiled from multiple visits and interviews.
She is late.
Gabriela Hernandez has missed the caravan marching north.
As she realizes her mistake, she also knows she can't let it go.
She scrounges up enough coins to pay for a taxi. Not knowing exactly where the group is, they simply head north, asking along the way in the hope they will catch up with the group.
The pregnant mother of two has never before left Honduras. Now, she has fled her country, crossed Guatemala and found herself in the southern Mexican border city of Tapachula.
"I was very scared. I didn't even have a dollar for a hotel," she says later.
When she arrived with her two little boys, she didn't know whom to trust.

And when she gets to the border, I hope she follows the law and applies for legal passage.
Mexico can save them.

The general reaction is sympathy, but the general answer is still NO. America has the right and the obligation to protect out borders. Central America and Mexico have the duty to provide for their own citizens instead of offloading these people onto America. The answer is still NO. You are not wanted or needed here.
Just don’t send them to Britain.

Sorry - first, don’t get pregnant if you cannot take care of your children. Second, the father should be taking care of them, not me.
There are literally millions of poor around the world in this situation, they cannot come here for free money.

Pobrecita. Refugees are obliged to stop in the first place of refuge. In their case, Mexico.
And liberals will pat themselves on the back and call us racist but we, the average American, are the people who have to deal with the mess that they have created.
For example, not only will they become a burden on the current welfare system which we all pay for but they will also be competing for the same financial resources that we, the true Americans, have paid into — social security, medicare, etc. and federal and state and local taxes. And what is the likelihood that their children and grandchildren will also demand their right to the same “welfare” system.
People should be reminded that original immigrants did not have all of the freebies and welfare system that is offered to today’s immigrants. Those immigrants had to fend for themselves or else and so they had to be self sufficient. Not so these days and it is A HUGE DIFFERENCE.
Help veterans first.
