Yup. Though, in a case like this it only serves as a clue, not evidence itself. The evidence is the match of suspect’s own DNA with that found at the crime scene.

One of my bros is into this stuff and has done a lot of “DNA triangulating” to make connections .

That seems to be exactly what happened.

All they needed was three relatives and they nailed him.

I suspect we are seeing the future of DNA detective work.

Third Cousin Earl, Great Aunt Sally and the nephew you have submit their DNA to 23 and Me and the next thing you know, you are doing 23 to life. (Not You, but some criminal)
