Emboldened by a base thirsty for bold new initiatives, ambitious Democrats have spent large chunks of the Trump era building and working out how to sell a slate of unapologetically progressive policy programs.
Now, as the 2020 presidential primaries come into sight, yet another new front is emerging. Over the last two weeks, a growing roster of potential candidates for the Democratic nomination have stated or affirmed their support for some form of legislation that would guarantee a job to every American.
The party's left flank has, for decades, sought to advance universal solutions to perennial problems. Since President Donald Trump's election, which sealed Republicans' grip on power in Washington, Democratic politicians and policymakers, along with one notable independent senator, are moving toward that vision -- creating a new framework for how the party might operate if it can regain the White House and congressional majorities over the next two years.
Though still a work in progress, it would guarantee wages of at least $15 an hour, indexed to inflation by the program's fourth year, offer retirement and health benefits on par with other federal employees, child care assistance and 12 weeks of paid family leave. The jobs listed include everything from park maintenance to construction work and home care.
But there are also loftier ideals in play. The draft describes what would be a massive new entitlement as "more than simply an economic fix."
"People working under the federal job guarantee will be serving their communities and their country, uniting use together in a common purpose, rebuilding the social fabric of our nation," it reads.

If everyone has a Government job then who pays the taxes to support Government ,LOL
Biggest question is:
Where is the money coming from to pay those guaranteed wages? Government work does not produce anything that pays for itself, so, they’ll have to extract it from the real producers, but, it’s doubtful there would be enough productivity from the private economy to pay the guaranteed jobs. Logically it can’t work.
The are two lines, the signs say:
1) FREE STUFF (until it runs out)
2) STUFF YOU HAVE TO WORK FOR (plenty for all)
Which line is longer?
Which reminds me - the Job Corps is an ongoing disaster - https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-job-corps-failure-1524432262
Watch the Donald link this to infrastructure budgeting. Then he gets to run it. Moochelle will be bitching about slaves building the new interstate bridges.

Kind of like the long stretched out line with the sign
‘HENPECKED men stand here”
and a ‘lone soul’ under the sign..
NON HENPECKED men stand here.
When asked he said - Just standing where my wife told me to.
Yup! Everything the left touches and has a hand in turns to garbage!
Great post. Thanks.

I mean...really? Servitude to the f’n government? Surrender your personal autonomy, independence, your future, your opportunities, your privacy, your family, your fortune, your very soul to the f’n fed? Palleeease!
“People working under the federal job guarantee will be serving their communities and their country, uniting together in a common purpose, rebuilding the social fabric of our nation,” it reads.
At first I thought I really don’t want a job, but then Bernie offered me a federal government position as a “Social Fabric Rebuilder.” We work from home or cell phone, calling each other, and bargaining for higher wages and better working conditions.
Who can live on $15 an hour?
A lot of their voters don’t want to work.
Want a job? Want to serve your country? Give 4 years of your life to the military. There are thousands of jobs someone can do from administration, medical, legal or to learn a trade if they so choose. They can also pick up a weapon and protect our nation from foreign and domestic enemies.
For that they will get a paycheck, a place to live, food and clothing. A career with benefits and a nice retirement package is included in the deal. Or you can take what you learn, leave after your time is up, call yourself a Veteran and use those skills you learned in the military for a life in the corporate world.
Because Democrats don’t have anything else. The have no principals, no ideas and no solutions. The only thing they CAN dream up is new ways to use taxpayer money to buy votes.
Democrats, the mentally hopeless minority.

Welcome. You don't have a prayer of succeeding, but by all means, keep trying.
You might considere a shortcut; just off yourselves. The real world is too cruel.
In the meantime, the rest of us employed working productive citizens can work on a few other legislative solutions to our social disintegration.
1. Restore the Death Penalty. One innocent victim life is all you get. Fellow criminal victims excepted.
2. Prohibit, by law, Unions and the destructive concept of tenure for government and educational industry employees at all levels.
Salaries to be set only by documented results, and lack of criminality, and set by public vote.
3. Restore disgusting sexual deviants to the realm of serious illnesses, detrimental to a healthy society.
4. Prevent the mentally deficient and indolent from voting or holding any government positions whatsoever, elected, appointed or hired. Permanently.
5. Restore the Nationwide network of insane asylums, dismantled initially, ironically, by Ronaldus Magnus in California. If families with insane members can't control or deal with their dangerous members, the health and safety of the public must be consider paramount.
6. Encourage and support militancy among the normal, educated, informed mentally healthy citizens of the country to prevent any possible return to governance by the insane (i.e. California)
