$28K? Must have been a gift for advertising, and that’s the freight. I don’t know the total number of settings required for the White House, but it’s a lot and $28K ain’t gonna get it done. Something missing here.

300 - 12 place settings, cost a lot. The website article on White House China says that the Clintons ordered that China in 2000. Since that was an election year, maybe they did not want it to be used very much before they left with it.

I wonder if it was ever used for an actual state dinner. The article only mentions a dinner with several of the the living Former presidents and wives. Perhaps, the Clintons wanted most of it to still be in the original packings. Remember all the years of the Clinton Global Initiative with heads of state after the annual UN meeting? Such delusions of grandeur.
