Sudden fan failure spinning at such high speeds will rip the engine right off the pylon out on the wing. That is far preferable than the entire wing structure folding up from the torque if the thing stayed attached.

I did see a plane with a turbine failure, and it was a mess, but it didn’t have the option (being a single engine plane with the engine enclosed in the fuselage) of that.

I would definitely rather have the engine rip off than spray the passenger compartment with blade fragments.

The fan looks fine though, at least the half you can see in the picture. Odd, maybe it sucked up a drone.
