In yet another personal attack against President Trump, CNN’s Jake Tapper spread the false claim that Lewis “Scooter” Libby leaked the name of CIA agent Valerie Plame. While Tapper’s fan-base on the far left are celebrating Tapper’s spreading of this fake news, those who still hold journalistic integrity in high regard are telling the truth.
Back in 2005, Libby, then chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, was wrongfully prosecuted by special counsel Patrick Fitzgerald, the man looking into who leaked the name of CIA operative Valerie Plame Wilson (who has since revealed herself to be an anti-Semite).
The belief was that her name was leaked in political retaliation for her husband Joe Wilson’s criticism of the Bush administration’s war in Iraq.
The name of the true leaker was Richard Armitage, then our deputy secretary of state, a Deep Stater who forever disgraced himself by not coming forward as the two-year scandal engulfed the Bush administration and innocent men like Libby. To prove just how corrupt and partisan this entire Deep State exercise was (Cheney was the true target), Armitage was never penalized.
Libby, however, was convicted of four process crimes: obstruction of justice, making a false statement, and two counts of perjury. He was then sentenced to 30 months in prison, and to his own disgrace, rather than give Libby the full pardon he deserved, then President George W. Bush only commuted the prison sentence. Libby found himself a convicted felon, which means he lost his law license.

For the 110th time, this was not a prosecutable “leak” because Plame was not acting as a secret agent and the alleged leaker had a free speech right to expose Plame’s attempt to undermine the President’s foreign policy.

This really says something about the left though. I’m sure he still believes this because it was repeated a millions times in left wing circles. I have a buddy that insisted this was the case, until I showed him. I could see his confusion. How could this be? He was SURE he was right.
Liberals do not drift outside of what they’re told to read. Everything else is the “faux news” they’ve been told about, so why bother? It doesn’t even occur to them that they’re willfully believing the real lies.

Protecting your fellow sharks for life after congress are you ? Used to think he and Darrell Issa would finally get us the truth but in reality all thev really did was provide “ swamp gas “ to cover up the real stink that is Washington club politics.
A lot of people are spreading that fake news. I busted someone chops on another forum for saying Libby leaked that Valarie was a CIA agent. We all know it was Armitage. Also as to lying it was Libby’s word versus Tim Russert. A lady witness said that the prosecutor misstated what she had told him. President Trump was correct in pardoning Scooter Libby.
Not that this leak as illegal, just that Libby was a leaker, as was Armitage, and as was Colin Powell.

CNN should be sued the don’t tell news they tell stories.
I would think that action would lie against Tapper for making that claim. Scooter Libby is not guilty even of lying to the investigator - not only in fact but in law (that is what a pardon means - if asked if he has ever been convicted of a crime, Libby is legally entitled to say, “No”).And what really matters is that at no time was Libby convicted of the crime Tapper alleges.
I thought it was proven T.R. never really said this quote.
