The article states that the hypersonic missile flies at Mach 10, and it can carry a nuclear warhead.

Mach 10 is about 7,000 mph. That’s 2 miles per second.

Can a nuclear explosion actually maintain its coherence at that speed?

Every hypersonic weapon I have read about uses kinetic energy, not explosive energy.

ICBMs are a lot faster than that.

Mebbe read up on the speed a nuclear detonation runs at. Talking light only going a few yards in the total time of the event.

The Sprint ABM in the 70’s attained that speed and carried an enhanced neutron W66 warhead.

A thermonuclear explosion occurs in milliseconds.

Ballistic warheads are moving faster then this Missile.
