To quote another FR member I can only say
We are all entitled to our opinions. But I regret some of the ugliness here against our beloved President.
This: The banned weapons and the facility to produce them no longer exist. They cannot be used by 'either' or 'any' side to attack anyone.
Trump had to do this before we pull out of Syria because if he did it after, he would not have 'intelligence' in the field to provide the exact targeting information that was needed to keep civilian casualties to a minimum.
A couple JASSM-ERs don’t hurt either!
But John Kerry assured us before that Assad got rid of his chemical weapons.
Most US power comes not from just weapons, but having them present and ready to be used when the command is given, so that others avoid doing things that would cause said weapons to be used.
On that subject, the Truman strike group set sail to the eastern Mediterranean on Wednesday.
One possibility:
If the rebels used the chemicals against civilians, they’ll do it again, hoping President Trump hits Assad’s Syria again...
On the other hand, if Assad used the weapons against the civilians and Trump destroyed his chem munitions available, it won’t happen again....
When President Trump embraces the same failed neocon Middle East foreign policy THAT HE CAMPAIGNED AGAINST he is deserving of our rebuke.
I hear you.
Exactly
“I think the idea behind Trumps action was this:
Whether Assad would use the banned weaponry at his disposal, or whether the rebels overran the storage facilities and then used those same weapons to attack, the most logical step was to ELIMINATE THE BANNED WEAPONS and the FACILITIES that produce them.
Its not a case of taking anyones side in Syria, its a case of removing the weapons/facilities that everyone was saying were not there.
Since people like John Kerry and Putin guaranteed those facilities were not there, not producing chem weapons, TRUMP simply made it true. They are no longer there.”
This ^^^^^^^^
Perfectly executed mission, zero casualties on our side, devastating to Assads WMD capacity and overwhelming proof that American strength and leadership has returned and that President Trump will not hesitate to prove it.
Trump and our military hit it out of the park, both tactically and strategically.

Not if you believe a lot of dopes who were posting here last night. To them, Trump has betrayed everything he ever stood for, ruined America, and endangered the existence of Mother Earth.
I can’t tell if they’re just stupid, trolls, or deranged Cruzers - but I wish they’d find somewhere else to post and leave Free Republic to people who SUPPORT the greatest President of our lifetime.
Mimicking Bush who he used to mock. A mockery.
Based on this map it looks like ISIS (in black) is regrouping in the part of Syria under US control.
Insolent, blathering ass posting like an insolent blathering ass.
I've been to dinner at the President's house 3 times and met with him once. I also proudly supported him through the ENTIRE primary process, after which I proudly voted for him as president.
So shut your pathetic lying hole.
Something else will takes ISIS’ place.
Until Islam is no longer a factor, there will always be organizations like ISIS.

What the hell is YOUR problem? If you support the President you and I have no disagreement.
> Just what mission is accomplished? <
Taking an action in the Middle East is like walking through a maze at night, one filled with booby traps. The mission that was “accomplished” here is that the United States turned one way - and not another - in the maze.
It’s not easy to predict how a maze decision will turn out. And that’s why some folks say it’s best to stay out of mazes altogether.
One step at a time...destroy ISIS completely then deal with the next threat.
There’s no reason to let ISIS regroup behind our lines in Syria.
What I’m saying is the Middle East is a perpetual game of “Whack-a-Mole”
