I believe that. People who don’t need to tell me what they think was in all the trucks that headed to Syria from Iraq before we invaded.

........”Curious how the intel community knew where all these chemical weapons targets were located”.......

Well with over 2,000 US Troops on the ground, that we know of, I would highly suspect there are just a few ‘special forces’ we don’t know of..or anyone else knows of.

Assad has basically won his war. It’s crazy to bring down further wrath from coalition forces. I’m not buying it.

“As for Israel, they are a strong, powerful country who don’t need us to defend them. I’m American, not Israeli. Let Israel worry about Israel.”

Forget it, there are too many posters here, perhaps even a majority since the big purge of FR after last year’s Syria strike, who seem confused about which country they belong to, or else are under the delusion that Israel is somehow part of the United States, conjoined at the hip.

It could be that many of them are reading too many dime-store biblical theory novels about Armageddon and Rapture, I really don’t know. I used to believe that most posters here were rational, sane, logical conservatives but I have started to have my doubts.

There really is a very strong strain of belief that Israel’s war is the United States’ war, and no matter who Israel allies with, Saudi Arabia, ISIS, the Gulf States, or whoever, and no matter who Israel wants to fight, Assad’s Syria or Saddam’s Iraq or whoever (no matter that Christians were tolerated in those countries), then the US should blindly and uncritically follow.

Israel is a fantastic country, I am humbled by all that Israel has achieved for itself, the Israelis are terrific people, but then I think that of many other countries too. I fail to see, however, how it is (unless we are actively seeking Rapture, then all bets are off the table) that a foreign country gets to determine US foreign policy.

"Assad has basically won his war. "

Oh, okay. Then it's perfectly fine for him to gas his people now that he's won his war.

I must emphasize where I am coming from: I am more of an isolationist.

I realize that in today’s world that is not entirely possible. I’m just so tired of the US interfering in other countries.

Instead of focusing on Syria, we should be focusing on closing our borders and building the Wall. Let’s attempt to undo the damage that the left has done to our schools, universities, churches, the media, etc. it’s ironic that we would get involved in another country’s civil war when we are close to a civil war of our own.

I don’t trust the UK or France. IMO, Theresa May is a madwoman and let’s not forget that the UK worked to get Hillary elected with that fake dossier.

About Mommy’s boy Macron: He is simply a Globalist tool and Merkel’s puppet.

Don’t get me wrong; I support our troops. This isn’t their fault. I don’t want them suffering and dying for nothing.

Why would Assad want to pizz off the US and coalition forces with a gas attack when he’s basically got his country back. He’s a thug he’s not stupid. I think it was a set up.

It’s not about wanting war. Russia has already acted on it. If you don’t see the forest for the leaves then yes we will be pulled into a much worse war. Russia understands one thing - strength. Obama was a pussy and the world ran us over. This does not have to become a major war if we stand up to it now. There has been corruption in NATO, you are right about that. Since taking office Trump has demanded that every country pay their share and take ownership. Not for war but for commitment to defense. Israel like any other country needs allies to defend it. All I am saying is that this is much bigger than what we are seeing as airstrikes in Syria.

Well... such ugliness and evil in the minds of these dictators is not something anyone sane and decent really WANTS to understand, except that it is necessary to understand to try to limit that evil.

It is also something that cannot be easily / quickly explained, and I still have complicated tax filing to get to (ouch!), but, way over-simplified and generalized, it’s use of fear / terror, combined with sadism.

Consider: Assad may have been in position to defeat the rebels for now (we are told), but, he would be left with a majority of his population embittered and (too often) radicalized. Muslim radicalized, if you get my drift. In addition, the Saudis (etc.) are still justifiably (for the most part) opposed to an Iranian / Russian / Syrian “axis” in the ME, and will almost certainly try again to stir up trouble within Syria.

So, you have with Assad capability and experience (in use of chem weapons, demonstrated sadism, and extreme need to control / strike fear into the population. Couple this with Obama’s “red line” that Obama did nothing about, PLUS a large scale Russian propaganda machine to help cover for him. I would guess that at worst Assad thought that if “caught”, he might lose a few more aircraft & facilities, which the Russians would help him replace.

Or... you can just go with “evil” if you wish.

Why would Hillary and her minions produce a fake Russian dossier about Trump when she had the election in the bag?
