IMO, Trump would like nothing better than Asad agreeing to abdicate. The show of approaching force is is part of that agenda.
The big question: Can Asad find a safe place of exile? Or is he a subject of war crimes prosecution by the UN or whatever world gov. that handles that kind of thing. If so seems like he’d be tainted goods for exile in a host country.
