So descendants of abolitionists, northern civil war dead, civil rights activists and people like me whose descendants were in Europe until long after slavery ended, all owe black people money based on the color of their skin? I’ll pass.
My ancestry is English, up to and including, my mother’s generation. The British Isles were once held by the Romans and the people were treated as serfs and slaves during that time. I will be expecting a check from Italy forthwith!
I don;t owe reparations either.
two of my great grandparents fought on the Northern side during the Civil War and when the war ended my great grandfather had to walk home to Kansas City from the south. Along the way the soldiers came across a black couple sitting in front of a burned out house. My great grandfather invited them to walk with the soldiers and he told them that he would find the man a job and a house in Kansas City, which he did, and I looked them up on the Census and there was the former slave couple right across the street from my great grandparents, so I don’t owe anyone any money.
