Well here’s a likely scenario: Paul Nehlen who only was able to draw 15% of the primary votes away from Ryan - will run for his seat now, claiming “I’m the most conservative!” while pounding his chest. And because he has zero appeal to any but the most conservative voters he will lose to a RINO they’re drum up from somewhere whose main qualification will be “I’m not Paul Nehlen”. So the Republican base in CD1 will yawn and mostly stay home, but the RINO will win and then the WI Democrat party will put every dime they have into getting an attractive “moderate” Democrat elected.

Doubt it? Look only to the past few elections...

Paul Ryan has collected $54 million in donations for 2018. If the GOPe chooses not to fight for his district that is on them and not the base.
