The Russian Method of State Suicide
American Thinker ^ | April 11, 2018 | Gary Gindler

It seems that Russia, in its search for a suitable method of collective suicide, has decided to compensate for America's supposed superiority in anti-missile defense systems with an enormously expensive one-sided arms race.

Russia decided to create missiles capable of almost 100% penetration of not just the existing, but also any future missile defense of the United States. Of course, the Pentagon only shrugged – they know perfectly well about Russia's tiny military budget. Well, if Russia wants to go bankrupt unilaterally, so be it. Trump's administration will not interfere. It will even help.

The fact is that the nuclear missiles currently in service in Russia can overcome any U.S. missile defense. Not all of them, of course, but even a small percentage of missiles that penetrate are capable of wiping America off the face of the Earth many times over. Conversely, U.S. missiles can overcome Russia's missile defense. It's called parity, also known as "guaranteed mutual destruction." It is a confirmation of the old military adage: in a confrontation between the armor and the projectile, the projectile always wins.

Really? How does one go about creating a system which can neutralize another system which has not yet been invented?

...efforts to destabilize America as the main adversary, of course, are underway. They were conducted, starting from the time of Stalin, and with the same indispensable result: zero.

Was this person born yesterday?

Yes, Russia’s defense budget is relatively small, but military quality is not a direct “dollar for dollar” comparison.

25 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russian engineers are still producing advanced fighter-jets, for example. Are theirs equal to the F-35? Doubtful, but they also aren’t paying their military-industrial government cronies $125 million per copy of their fighters, while we are.

I think it is quite possible that Putin, due to a personal animus, wanted Hillary to lose the election. But Trump is going to be much worse for him by far. Another example of the Russian Method.

Putin seems not to have studied the fall of the USSR or has not got the right lessons from that event. He seems to be getting ready to compound it all by some sort of invasion of Eastern Europe and maybe Khazakstan to reassembnle the Russian Empire as of old. That will be extremely expensive and much more devastating a drain on such a tiny economy than the same level of action would be on America or China.

arthurus,
If Russia invaded Pensacola i have a feeling you and most everyone else in said area would join the resistance.
Can you imagine trying to impose yourself on Khazakstan?

Like herding chickens.
Been resisting forever Khazaks

You are correct, however one must always consider the following: The most robust missile defense system will not stop all the missiles be they American or Russian. Both sides will suffer devastating damage that will probably render both a no longer functioning nation state. It also costs a lot more to shoot down a missile than to build an offensive missile. The old paradigm of Mutually Assured Destruction existed in 1960 and it exists today.

If Russia and the West get in a new arms race the West due to economic power will win. We can build them faster and in greater numbers than Russia. However, some Russian warheads would get through and cause great harm. Most of our warheads would get through and Russia would cease to exist.

Putin is a real Son of a Bi-ch. He will never attack us in a nuclear war as we will not attack him.

Forgot to add the following:

If Putin tries to invade a Baltic State with conventional forces this is the recipe for nuclear war. These are NATO nations today. Due to logistics and manpower he would initially win. This battle could quickly go to tactical nukes and then thermonuclear warfare on a global basis. I hope he is not that stupid.
