Election handicappers are shifting Speaker Paul Ryan's (R-Wis.) House district toward Democrats after his retirement announcement Wednesday morning.
The Cook Political Report moved Wisconsin's 1st District from a "solid Republican" seat to a "lean Republican" seat based on the news, while Sabato's Crystal Ball out of the University of Virginia shifted the race from "likely Republican" to a toss-up.
No serious Republican candidate had been running against Ryan for the nomination. But now with his impending retirement, Republicans have until the June 1 filing deadline to find another candidate to best Paul Nehlen, a white nationalist who lost handily to Ryan in the 2016 GOP primary.

“shifted the race from likely Republican to a toss-up.
This is complete nonsense. Shifting that district to “likely Republican” or “leans Republican” is certainly valid since an incumbent is not running, but the district isn’t exactly Dem friendly. I guess they view everything as “wide open” after PA-18.
Okay.
How do the Conservative 'election analysts' see this coming down?
Ha...the GOPe is the "Night Soil Party."
> How will we tell the difference?
Democrats stab you in the chest. RINOs stab you in the back.
> “Paul Nehlen, a white nationalist ...”
Paul, a Trump supporter, is no such thing.
The Hill is a sh*t factory with Ben Kamisar as a product producer.
when some thing is described as unbelievable - it makes me more scepticle about it. same with incredible (it’s not credible)
is he beliveable or not?
That’s what the Ministry of Propaganda does to candidates that support the rule of law and American sovereignty.
Both parties gang up to defeat them when the Uniparty choice is defeated in the primary.
It has happened repeatedly.
Sorry but that is correct. Im from the district. Unless Republicans put up a STELLAR candidate and pour tons of money into this race, it will be a Dem pick up. Red area but purple state that leans Dem overall. They have wanted this seat for a long Time and this is their shot. They will put their heart, blood and soul into winning it.
Sorry, but I am correct. If Ryan pours his millions into keeping that district GOP it will be stay so. The sad fact is the GOP does not want to win with Trump in the WH. That’s on them. Not the voters.
Not an easy Dem pickup

"White Privilege" is an excuse for black failure.
If white privilege exists, how did Asians become the highest earning income group?
It’s like the Nazis blaming the Jews for controlling banking.
Exactly. That is why the seat will go Dem. not sure why you are disagreeing with me. I think thats what I said. Republicans will have to put up an amazing candidate plus pour tons of money into a previously safe race to keep it, but they wont because they dont want it.
Dear Hill,
Kevin McCarthy would be perfect. And he has a good relationship with President Trump. I love seeing them together, unlike the sour faced Ryan, who always looked like he ate a bed clam.
“.....shifting Speaker Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) House district toward Democrats.....”........
Ryan was elected as a demodummie the day he took office, he only hides behind the letter “R” to keep it appearing fair. I doubt true conservatives will be disappointed when Ryan is no longer.
Yeah, I know...he's been a lousy speaker on many issues but unfortunately it's down to a numbers game and the stakes couldn't be higher.
I'd prefer he (we) retain that seat and he simply steps down as speaker/from leadership.
This fall's (R) turnout could very well determine weather Trump was nothing more than a weak 2 year attempt to save our Republic or not.
"We" better turn out, and turn out bigly this fall.
He’s 100% believable. Follow him on Twitter and you can listen to one of his broadcasts. This guy is genuine and would work for freedom 100%.
Great news Kenny, thanks for the info!
For those so inclined...Invest
They've been horrible, but if we loose the House and/or Senate, it will be because of the voters...first in the primaries and second in the general elections. Those idiots didn't become who they are without voters putting them there.
This is all up to the voters and who shows up.
