When Trump goes along with this, he just paves the way for the next step. That step is the permanent State bureaucrats interfering with Trump's tariffs and his ability do do what he does best which is to make deals.
Tariffs for the most part don't start instantly, they're going into effect sometime this summer. That's classic Trump, putting time pressure on the party he's negotiating with and we've already seen Xi respond with some positive changes. Xi is no fool, if the tariffs get wrapped up in political football and red tape, he doesn't need to implement anything, he can just wait. Otherwise, he'll want a face to face with Trump where both can come out looking like winners and great deal makers.
Despite the majority of the people on FR staying with Trump pretty much no matter what, it's the States that have long been democrat strongholds democrats took for granted where looking like, "just another lying politician" when his actions contradict his campaign promises, is where things like continuing our fighting in Syria will chip away at his support and that's exactly where he can least afford to lose support.
Trump is smart enough to have someone doing their best to unravel the EPA so that bringing industry back to the US doesn't just end up with companies being tied up for years in red tape (enough years to outlast a Trump Presidency) but he apparently isn't convinced of the fact that the entire upper layer of the Military and the Intelligence community sold out to Globalists intent on destroying the US way back under the Clinton administration. They just became noteworthy under Obama because they'd climbed the ladder to the top with democrat pols paving the way for them.
