State-by-state was tried, and it led to war. A really big war. Why do you think doing that a second time would not lead to war, but splitting states would?
I do think there are clear advantages to state secession, mostly that a government exists to take over once the Federal level is eliminated.
But: there is a huge downside. It fails in the main objective of removing tyrannical government off the backs of the people.
Let's say that all the states split out back into 50 independent States, I think you would still likely have civil war in states like Oregon. What Army will Oregon use to put down the Levoy Finicum Brigade when they close off access to Eastern Oregon?
The Oregon State Police have 406 sworn officers.
People in Burns are very tired of politicians in Portland telling them what to do, probably more tired of them then of the cretins in D.C.
So what? That's Oregon's problem not mine. Yeah! I don't live there and they are now an independent country, free take make their own decisions (and vice versa). Get it?
