It’s a logical(ish) extension of their fantasy of impeaching Trump - as a way of a majority/mob rule nullifying the election, which was won by a popular minority due to EC. Should the Rs lose majority of Congress (both houses), Ds will simply perform a straight-up nullification of the 2016 election, acting as kangaroo court (House indicts, Senate convicts on vague “treason” charges). Having thought through to that wet dream, they have to consider what happens when Trump declares “that’s bull$#!^” (which it will be) and refuses to leave - creating a legitimate Constitutional crisis (malicious Congressional majority abusing power to impeach & remove POTUS just to invalidate a legitimate election, a very bad move).
Leftists know the Right will always play by the rules. When close approaching ability to rule by force, they’re prone to outright abuse of rules precisely like impeachment: they _know_ Congress has the unconditional power to remove a President - even though it’s obviously intended as a safety valve, the Left is quite happy to abuse it, causing the Right to again tie into knots dealing with procedures followed to the letter even if it’s obvious (a la Hillary flaunting her crimes, knowing she worked the system to not endanger her).
Much as FReepers are denouncing the “Trump refuses arrest” Leftist wet dream, it’s actually a realistic scenario Democrats are trying to make come about: nullify election by baseless impeachment, forceable arrest should he respond with “FU”. What the Left _isn’t_ considering is the ensuing civil war.
