More than 600 people illegally crossed into Canada through Quebec last weekend, a significant spike in the ongoing flow of migrants walking across the U.S.-Canada border.
About 150 people crossed each day. Thats triple the usual numbers of 50 to 60 migrants per day. Police were waiting on Canadian soil to arrest those crossing the border.
But unlike last year, when thousands of Haitian migrants were housed in a Montreal stadium, the new group is predominantly from Nigeria.
The crossings werent limited to the weekend. On Thursday, more than 114 migrants arrived, according to the Customs and Immigration Union. A Haitian woman named Rosemary was among those who made the journey from New York. Like many others whove crossed, she said her decision was rooted in fears of the U.S. immigration policy.

That certainly cleared something up in my mind about the insularity of SOME know it all Canadians. One might make excuses though. With the huge monolith of CBC and followed up by CTV on the television, it has some effect.
Take the affairs of a sovereign country the United States. The televised comments on an democratically elected President. Day in day out a bombardment of anti-Trump stuff. Just like the American press and the same tabloid material. Large doses of Stormy Daniels.
I live opposite our twin city in Ontario with Michigan. Most people here just get on with their day today lives and drink coffee at Hortons. Relations very friendly with the good old USA. Cross border shopping and all.
Now if I could only get the McGuire Sisters to sing it!
Canada continues to be enriched with diversity.
