Mexican governments for generations have fed resentment of the United States for the Mexican War.
The European elites in Mexico have been pushing their poor indigenous population into the US for decades.
We have been importing people who hate US.
Sure! Except that they’re afraid of being nuked! ;-)
Besides, they can be as “fervent” as they like. It won’t do them any good.

Mexican gringos like Vicente Fox would like to cleanse Mexico as much as possible.
Maybe a few of the best & brightest Mexicans want to live here or have second homes, but the reality is, most by far are the poorest of the poor who are so desperate they are willing to be used by gangs to cross illegally, and carry their water . . and drugs . . and guns
That most national officials have allowed this to go on for decades if not centuries, is proof positive they don’t give a FF about the rest of us

Money sent “home” to Mexico for decades is now a larger source of income that oil and gas, add drugs to that total and a closed border would probably kill the corrupt government boo hoo!
Mexico is not a national Friend the the US. Mexicans, yeah, sure ... but not Mexico.
As for if the Mexican government would do this, even along racial lines, all one needs to consider is exactly who stole the wages of those in the Bracero program (it was officials in the Mexican government) ... yes, they’d do it! From years back they’d have done it!
But all that aside, the idea of retaking their supposed lost destiny (though no one but their own elites are responsible for that given that Mexicans make good soldiers, know how to work well, they are awash in Christianity, that Mexico has abundant valuable resources and can feed its own people, indeed it exports food) has created in some a sense of self righteous and nationally arrogant entitlement. You couldn’t give away immigration papers to some of these people because obeying our law is beneath them.
And all the while their more honorable countrymen, as well as lawful immigrants from many places, have to live with encountering attitudes and suspicions that follow in their wake.
The main reason Mexico pushes for open borders on their north is that the Mexicans who go north are earning money and sending it back home. It is that flow of money Trump wants to tax to build the wall, according to his earlier statements.
The second reason is the drug distribution and production network into the US needs foot soldiers and workers.
The cash flow to Mexico is huge, especially when you figure in the drug profits. Getting rid of “undesirables” is just a little icing on the cake.
Does the Border Patrol and National Guard have orders to shoot to kill? Very easy problem to solve.
Empty our prisons into Acapulco.
About 10 years ago I saw video of the Mexican president giving a speech to the Mexican congress. He said, I paraphrase slightly, “...the borders of Mexico extend to where ever there are Mexican people.....” and the Mexican congress gave him a standing ovation. Most Mexicans do not recognize our country as a sovereign country. The refer to the United States as “el otro lado” the other side.

The elites in Mexico, the pure blooded Spanish, hate the natives, the indians, the mixed blood. They are ethnically cleansing their unwanted, the colored and inferior races. That is my analysis of the leading lights of that country, not mine.
And if Mexico,in "retaliation",wants to do the same on their northern border I'd be fine with that...Mexico,just like the US,has the right to secure her borders.
