What a bunch of cry babies

When I went to school the average size of a class was 38 students. Obviously some larger some smaller (though never at the twenty count). Some classes were held in portables put up during the thirties and forties. They had minimal heat and definitely no ac.

No wonder these children never get ready for college. They would wet themselves walking into an intro chem class of five hundred

A friend of mine used to complain that his school teacher wife was not eligible for Social Security. Finally, I responded, “Wow, that IS unfair. All those years of working and paying into Social Security and she doesn’t get to collect. She DOES pay into Social Security doesn’t she?” His answer was, “No, but...” Our conversation ended at that point.

I believe it was the huge educational unions that pushed for teacher pensions rather than Social Security. Blame THEM!

Thousands for teachers unions, exspensive perks for teachers, pennies for kids.

The teachers need to look to their “school administrators”. They are where all the school money is wasted. Too many of them, too high salaries, and incompetent leadership. Way too much fat in school administration.

Then the teacher’s union needs to disappear. That is a major source of problems in public education. Unions have no place in the public sector.

And lastly, there are too many FedGov and state “programs” that they have to be in compliance of, that have absolutely nothing to do with teaching children.

Upside down pyramid pensions and best benes around are unsustainable.

There has to be some middle ground, but then again, liberals are irrational and poor in math.

"...As a state, we have failed them"

THAT'S OUR ARGUMENT!

But they will keep voting for more and more government....

I thought The State was so good? Isn't that what they are teaching these kids? I hope the kids are learning a REAL lesson from this.

Akins wants smaller class sizes, better teachers, and more funding for classroom materials, the teacher mentioned.

How does giving teachers raises accomplish any of that ?

There are some legitimate reasons for teachers to walk out.

For example, the teachers at Anacostia High School in DC have walked out today.

The toilets there don’t work, and the teachers have to send students who need to use one to a middle school two blocks away.

I know, DC school are a huge pool of waste, but this walkout seems reasonable.

"..keep the lights on..", "not enough desks for students.."

Help me understand. Every year taxpayers are asked to cough up more money, obstensibly to mitigate these very issues. Yet, every year we are told these issues remain or, have gotten worse.

So, where exactly is all the money going if not to resolve these issues? That seems like a no-brainer starting point for any discussion on the matter. Either: 1) someone is mishandling the funding, 2) someone is lying about the severity of the issue(s), or 3) we need re-evaluate the funding structure that supports education.

Fire every one of these whining, paid-too-much, under worked losers. Don’;t let these morons near your children. They are a bad influence, at best.
