Maybe Erdogan tells Putin that he can help them manage that, but he will likely try to cheat Putin on that as time goes on. Regardless, it is a huge coup to split Turkey’s large military, economy and strategic geography away from the West, even if only in the short to mid term. Putin will be willing to pay with very many Kurds for such a benefit.

No question about loss to NATO. Not sure about actual value of Turkey to NATO with current leader. He is not an ally, he is an enemy of NATO now.
