Venezuelas former Vice President turned Minister of Education Elías Jaua claimed in remarks this weekend that the countrys depleted supermarkets would be full of food if people did not eat so much. In a televised speech, Jaua said that, although Venezuelas malnutrition crisis was a timely issue, it had not at all affected peoples fundamental right to access food.
A growing demand and possibilities to acquire food by the Venezuelan people are what has presented a great challenge for our country to produce more and more food every day, he said. If the Venezuelan people did not eat, surely the shelves would be full.

In this topsy-turvey world, today’s repeal of the 2A semi-satire seems more reality, and this Venezuela supermarket real story seems more semi-satire.

I had to read the article twice because I thought he was joking. He wasn't joking.
Thank God there is a Bolivarian Revolution and our people have a right to eat meat, chicken, milk, that they did not have ten, 14 years ago, he alleged.
They have the right to eat unicorn meat as well. Problem is, no unicorns. And in any case, the Chavistas seized power in 1999.

And the people wouldn’t be hungry if they ate more.

If Venezuelans didn’t eat so much as they do nowadays, there would be progressively less reason to have grocery stores at all as the population dwindles due to starvation.

It can not be said enough times-that everything the Democrat party wants for this nation is on full display in Venezuela.
And on that note-What happened to the picture of Jimmuh Carter shaking hands with Chavez? It seems to have disappeared.
Also what is the net worth of this former Venezuelan VP? Take a wild guess it's in the 6 figures?

I went on 3 sports mission trips to work with the urban poor in Valencia, Venezuela in 2001, 04, and 07. The poverty was grinding, but there was food in the stores, modern well stocked shopping malls, and great restaurants. However, you could see what was coming. The poor figured they weren't any worse off than under the old regime, and they were right, just now everyone is suffering.
Interesting though, the church folks we worked with weren't fooled by Chavez, not fans of socialism.

Socialism is the equality to starve to death.
Except for the elite with their special shops. They look morbidly obese compared to the starving masses over which they rule.
Fat for me but not for thee.
