I assume you’re trying to make a stupid joke, but the French absolutely helped save South Korea during the worst of the fighting in the Korean War. After the Chinese invasion, when American and United Nations units were about to be knocked clear out of the Korean Peninsula, about 5,000 soldiers of the French Battalion and the US 23rd Regimental Combat Team held their ground against a vastly superior Communist Chinese force at the Battle of Chipyong-ni. Historians now call Chipyong-ni the Gettysburg of Korea - and it was a key turning point that saved the war from total disaster.
I’m sure that’s comforting to the families of the 37,000 Americans who fell in the Korean Campaign.
