Poor, ignorant white Southerners fought to defend the right of a bunch of Southern plutocrats to operate an economy based on the use of slave labor. Those treasonous sons of bitches encouraged their bought and paid for politicians to violently secede from the Union. They gambled and lost.And in the process plunged the nation into it's worst war ever. The South and it's leaders were directly responsible for the deaths of some 750,000 people. Davis and Lee were fortunate they weren't hung.
