A little-noticed provision in the 2,232-page government spending bill passed last week bans U.S. arms from going to a controversial ultranationalist militia in Ukraine that has openly accepted neo-Nazis into its ranks.
House-passed spending bills for the past three years have included a ban on U.S. aid to Ukraine from going to the Azov Battalion, but the provision was stripped out before final passage each year.
This year, though, the $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill signed into law last week stipulates that none of the funds made available by this act may be used to provide arms, training or other assistance to the Azov Battalion. White supremacy and neo-Nazism are unacceptable and have no place in our world, Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), an outspoken critic of providing lethal aid to Ukraine, said in a statement to The Hill on Tuesday. I am very pleased that the recently passed omnibus prevents the U.S. from providing arms and training assistance to the neo-Nazi Azov Battalion fighting in Ukraine.
The United States has been aiding and training Ukrainian forces in their fight against Russian-backed separatists since 2014, and recently expanded that aid to include arms. The omnibus includes about $620.7 million in aid for Ukraine, including $420.7 million in State Department and foreign operations funds and $200 million in Pentagon funds.

How did this slip past him, he wonders?
“militia linked to neo-Nazis” Isn’t that secret decoder ring for Trump supporters?
They will pay dearly for this.
Hillary Clinton’s Uranium 1 and other aid to Russia ends up in the hands of their allies Iran, Syria, etc...
Neo-Nazis are all over Europe. Lithuania apparently being the worst in terms of overall anti-Semitism.
Russia has more anti-Semitic sentiments spread across the mainstream population than Ukraine. But the fringe extremists of Russia operate under diff causes. Sometimes, under the banner of radical Orthodoxy. Like these guys arrested just today for arson attacks against a movie about a tsar, which they found spiritually offensive:
If we send ANY money to Ukraine, it will eventually find its way to the Nazi brigades.
As certain as the day is long.
Not even close to being true...Ukraine is #1 by a wide margin.
Report: Ukraine had more anti-Semitic incidents than all former Soviet countries combined
I have zero desire to donate anything to rebel movements with murky funding, support and objectives. Stinks of Soros?
Moreover, you can bet that fedgov (depending who is in power) could plausibly prosecute donors for support of terrorism. No thanks.
Nonsense, Pew Research Center shows that Ukrainians are the MOST accepting of Jews. Even Ukraine's Prime Minister is Jewish-Volodymyr Borysovych Groysman.

“” “” Russia has more anti-Semitic sentiments spread across the mainstream population than Ukraine. “” “”
LOL. Please, don’t tell it to any Jewish people to make idiot of yourself. Ukraine is nearly synonymous to anti-Semitic for them maybe only second to Nazi Germany.
This is great news :-)
The Ukraine & the Baltics are the most anti-Semitic in Europe. Same as it was 75 years ago.
I think the Israelis have a better handle on what constitutes anti-Semitism than Pew Research...ymmv
Jewish enclaves in Ukraine are more populous. Like Odessa, for example.
Number of incidents doesn’t necessarily correspond to numbers of people, IMO. While there may have been more anti-semitic incidents in Ukraine, there could well have been a small or relatively small number of perps.
“” “” Jewish enclaves in Ukraine are more populous. Like Odessa, for example.”” “”
Odessa ‘enclave’ was Jewish in 1970s. Then it all moved to Brooklyn other next two decades.
What other ‘enclaves’ are you talking about? Avanteevka moved to Brooklyn in 1905. We all know the reason which was anti-Semitic of course.
You mean it's not those eeeeeevil Poles, like they keep telling us?
Other =over, anti-Semitic =anti-Semitism.
Autocorrector is not my friend.
BTW, you were talking about ‘enclaves’ (read Ghettos) which were numerous in Ukraine and it doesn’t support your point.
In countries other than Ukraine Jewish people don’t live in Ghettos. It must be related to anti-Semitism (or lack of it).
“” “” You mean it’s not those eeeeeevil Poles, like they keep telling us? “” “”
Let’s be honest. Nobody is innocent in that in Eastern Europe although to equalize Poland and Nazi Germany like some people do is rather stupid.
I heard the same a while ago, to be honest the only countries I will visit in Central and Eastern Europe is Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic and Azeribaijan maybe Poland, the rest not so much, especially Russia and the Ukraine, heard some bad things and do not feel like dealing with any neo Nazis or anyone that might try to hate on my background, it is what it is, I just take my money elsewhere and avoid those places.
