Attorney General Jeff Sessions names prosecutor to investigate FBI allegations.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions designated U.S. attorney John Huber as the prosecutor tasked with looking into allegations of abuse of power at the FBI.

In a Thursday letter to Congress, Sessions said this appointment was made in response to requests for a special counsel investigation of the claims. The attorney general said, however, that Huber will be the one determining "whether any matters merit the appointment of a special counsel....In his letter, Sessions said he will take the necessary actions to defend the integrity of the Justice Department and its work.

"We understand that the Department is not above criticism and it can never be that the Department conceals errors when they occur," Sessions wrote.

The attorney general said he expects the department's staff to operate with the "highest level of integrity, ethic, and professionalism."

"If anyone falls short of these standards, I will fulfill my responsibility to take necessary action to protect the integrity of our work," he said.

Sara’s source was an unnamed source from the DOJ. Greg Jarrett and Judge Jeanine weren’t buying it.

Agree. I enjoy Carter’s reporting but it seems at times like she is carrying somebody else’s water. There is an agenda there.

Yes. It was very clear she was attempting to spin the narrative. Jarrett wasn’t buying it at ALL.

“Utah is among the most important Never Trump ground zeros”

Utah is its own place - a stand alone powerbase within the Republican Party, effectively governed within the inner sanctums of the Mormon (LDS) Church. The Church is very sophisticated about what is going on, with many members in the Intelligence Services. It is hard to find a place in America with a higher concentration of clean living Boy Scout types, who can pass polygraphs without a hitch.

Romney is royalty within the Church (savior of the Salt Lake Olympic Games), as was his father (former Governor of Michigan). He has a mountain of political capital among the other top members of the Mormon elite, unrelated to his competition with Trump.

Regardless of the personal political ambitions of individual candidates like Romney, Huntsman, or McMuffin bringing them into competition to Trump; Utah is still among the the best places in the country to seek out an honest man for an important job like restoring rule of Law to a corrupted DoJ.

“Wishful thinking (timing it for an October Surprise). Nothing will happen until after the midterms.”

On the other hand, if they see that they have once in a lifetime electoral dynamite, how could they resist the urge to use it?

Here's a picture of "Honest" Huber from Utah, in DC, sitting to the left of his boss, Rod FISA Abuser RosenSwamp.

Trump deserves all the grief he’ll get for this. Sessions is *his* hire. Still the biggest mistake of this presidency. Seems like Trump has a death (impeachment) wish.

If this guy is loyal to the GOP it is NOT a good thing for Trump. Did you not see the omnibus bill fiasco? The distance betweent he GOP and Trump couldn’t have been farther. Did you not see “conservatives” like Gowdy defending the indefensible Mueller soft coup on TV?

Mueller was appointed in about 5 minutes and had guilty pleas a few months after that. I realize we need to keep morale up for the midterms but there is no evidence any Obama admin folks will be held criminally liable. Zero. There is no evidence the GOP will fully support Trump on Mueller, either.

“He is merely trying to run out the clock for the deep state and bury evidence.”

Yesterday a talking head said that the U.S. Marshals need to show up unannounced and confiscate all records of every type from the FBI. There’s no way they’ll turn over everything voluntarily. They’ll give up some things, but not everything, and nobody will know the difference. A case of “you don’t know what you don’t know”.

Rod FISA Abuser RosenSwamp.

This really is an elephant in the room. Has Sleepy Sessions bothered to address this massive conflict of interest?

On Lou Dobbs (Stu Varney sitting in), Ed Rollins just said with Session’s lastest move, it is obvious this is a whitewash.

Greg Jarrett told Judge Jeanine (sitting in for Hannity) that already Sessions has let the Statute of Limitations pass on several Clapper crimes, and that he believes the DOJ will do the same with the rest of the crimes.

They must not be allowed to get away with brushing these heinous crimes under the rug. To do so makes them JUST AS GUILTY as those who committed the original crimes. They deserve the same fate.

Ed Rollins said when Reagan came in to office, on Day 1 ALL the prosecutors were let go, and they brought their own people in. He does not understand why all these Obama-Clinton-Bush people are still there. Dr. Gorka has said the same thing, repeatedly.

If Sessions had any intention of working for Trump and the American People, he would have already made the necessary moves by now.

221 more days ‘til midterms.

Easy question. Beaucuse 1”

1)It will drive the media into hysterics. Nothing else will be reported. 98% of reporting will be negative towards Trump. These would be arrests. Not plea deals or convicts. The arrested will proclaim innocence while POTUS is smeared as Hitler 2.0.

2)The GOPe absolutely will not support Trump on this. They will run to the nearest cameras to denounce a POTUS of their own party should the Trump admin charge Obama admin officials. I have no doubt of this.

So because of that nothing will happen until after the midterms. After that all bets are off.

That was Gregg Jarrett and he’s spot on. This lawlessness has got to stop one way or another.

Notice that the two US attorney holdovers are Rosenstein and Huber.

Huber hired to placate those calling for a prosecutor but to also delay and run out the clock. That’s how Sessions and the swamp works.

"What kind of support does he have? Is his failure to seize the initiative an accurate measure of his lack of support? Why does he suffer this - what do insiders know that we don't?"

Are you so far on the outside -- or with your head in an insulating space so far -- that you actually don't understand where Trump's power and support resides?

With what sort of people does he surround himself? For whom did he just take a "YUGE" hit? Who is building the WALL? Who turned Lil' Fat Nork-kid's head around backward?

There are "insiders" on FR -- quite a few -- if you're not too bullheaded to seek their counsel and join the conversation.

Sadly, there are some FReepers who are going to be as gobsmacked as CNN and the rest of the libtard editorial readers -- when the storm hits.

SMH... :-(

Ironically, the one thing that would get people out to vote for the hapless repubikans is if a lot of these corrupt-staters went to prison. Otherwise, they have little to run on.
