Well, I have no particular idea of what kind of relationship existed between Trump and this woman, but regardless of the details, she is leveraging this in an effort to get to a large financial reward. The funny thing is that Trump can take the position “I’m not paying you” - and she loses all possible leverage. Worst case - he had an affair with her. Likely complications for her - she pursued him, and there is no substantiation for the alleged threats her lawyer is talking about.
I have no idea what it would be like to be a billionaire, but I bet it involves having lots of people throw themselves on you. People who want to sell you this or that, people who want to insinuate themselves into your life so they can leverage some result (usually $.)
Hard to imagine there is a downside to being rich, but that has to be one of them. Everyone you meet would have to be evaluated for that motive. As a person of modest net worth, I never have to give that any thought.
I think that Trump is taking the correct tack - don’t say anything about it. And do not pay any of these people to go away or stay quiet. We did not elect him Pope. He didn’t have a reputation for perfect rectitude at the time of the 2016 campaign, and voters knew that, and elected him anyway. He is about what we thought he was.
100% spot on.
