Lieu to Trump on spending bill: You got rolled
The Hill ^ | 03/23/18 | JOHN BOWDEN

Posted on 03/23/2018 10:21:47 PM PDT by aquila48

Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu (Calif.) taunted President Trump on Twitter Friday evening after the president signed a massive $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill. Trump threatened to veto the bill before ultimately signing it, decrying the bill's lack of funding for his border wall proposal.

Lieu mocked Trump on Friday after the bill's signing, saying that Trump was "rolled" by Republican leaders in Congress who failed to secure a deal with Democrats over border wall funding or a legislative fix for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) recipients.

"Dear @realDonaldTrump: You wimped out. You failed to deliver on your veto threat. Now we in Congress will believe you even less," Lieu tweeted.

"The Republican controlled Congress just rolled you. And they will roll you again. Because when the moment of truth came, you showed great weakness," the California lawmaker added.

Amen. But they’re a dangerous joke. Never let your guard down when you’re around them.

As we're speaking congress is making up committees on how the Omnibus spending bill or suggestions on spending will actually be purchased.

This actually could work out really good depending on those committees.

The only way this works for me is if indictments start rolling, including for sitting Congresscritters and Senators. Only then will I be on-board.

No but it’s crippling and with Trump already lacking a party behind him he’d be very hindered

Charges would likely be some concocted obstruction which has no need for veracity to be charges brought

Conviction in the Senate is a tougher sell.....unlikely

But even Nixon had more party support than Trump has now

GOPe doesn’t want him to succeed anymore than Dems do

A wonderful reason to have vetoed today

Sure wish I could believe him. Would also like to know when construction will be finished, because he has about 8 months.

Read the Omnibus.

Know that Trump can still spend the money as he so chooses.

Have a bar for what to be truly outraged about.

If Trump were to appoint a liberal judge, the base should be outraged.

The FAUX outrage of a spending bill no one has read is a 48 news cycle NOTHING BURGER.

So much desperate reaching to bash Trump. It’s become boring.

The faux Trump bashing for the omnibus will last 48 hours. JOKE.

“the Founders, in their infinite and God given light and reason knew this day might come and so they left us “The Remedy Of Last Resort’’.”

Exactly, something we must consider. GOD knows we’ve been given enough reason to do so. What we now have is an abomination of what our FF had in mind. Their vision has been completely obliterated and erased from memory. MY LORD, that voters did not even catch how they elected an imposter (TWO PARENTS=AMERICAN CITIZENS) proves that our crazy government belongs in a padded cell; or at least driven out of town on a rail to the caves from which they’ve come.

said, "an actual ban on using his wall prototypes"

nothing like that in the bill that i can find. There is a limit on repair costs though. Actually the way I read it the money could come from military spending.

Under an executive state of emergency the POTUS can do almost anything.

Trump will do what it takes.

He now has all the funding he needs.
***************************************************
Living in a fantasy will do none of us any good. It certainly won’t MAGA.

We, AND TRUMP MOST OF ALL, need to start playing HARDBALL and NOT PRETEND HARDBALL — REAL HARDBALL.

Trump should NOT sign a single damned continuing resolution come September. He should not spend a single penny on Schumer’s damned tunnel he’s gloating over. He should not approve another one of OBAMA’S DACA certifications for a single illegal alien. The American people who are patriots WILL support him.

Ah, the little people are always the last to know! Guess our collective freak out needed to be verra realistic! The bill is way way over our budget. And the Democrat glee has been visions of our past.

Utter hogwash......a canard some GOPEe outfit has flooded this forum with tonight

It’s a damned lie

The president does not whatsoever get to determine how omnibus is spent to the degree you suggest....only discretionary spending in his appropriations ...he can’t refuse planned parenthood and give it to his wall for instance not without an immediate injunction

Most appropriations have since 1974....been “baked in”

This notion the appropriations omnibus good for six months is just a suggestion for Trump

Is absolute unadulterated poppycock

I’ll ping smart people

And blind, unconditional devotion.

You're full of crap. Trump's admiration has been EARNED and disgusting to see morons that expect perfection threw him under a bus.

Trump has: Cut corporate tax cuts almost in half, cut in billions in regulations, enacted tariffs to protect US jobs, nominated the most conservative justices of any President in history, destroyed ISIS, revoked funding for PP internationally and allowed states to de-fund PP. and, now, managed to provided funding to rebuild our military, which was gutted under Obama. Border security and enforcement infinitely better than it was under Obama.

The Republic establishment and its donors are blocking funding for the wall for obvious reasons (cheap labor) and a handful of liberal Senators are blocking the defunding of PP. Trump is using DACA to try to get funding for the wall and worked hard to get an Obamacare repeal passed that included the de-funding of PP. It's absurd to say he hasn't tried or doesn't want to accomplish those objectives.

Anyone should, on balance, be thrilled with what Trump has accomplished in 14 months. It easily surpasses what Reagan accomplished in his first 14 months, But, he needs more conservatives in Congress to get the rest of his agenda passed.
