Actually, with him on board we are less likely to have war than if Trump had chosen a pacifist.

Didn’t you ever deal with bullies when you were younger? Aggressors like a sure thing, they leave nothing to chance. They always choose to target the paciists and the weak because they know they will avoid, run and hide rather than fight; they never go after someone who is known for holding their ground and inclined to strike back.

I have to admit, the recent changes give the appearance that Trump is assembling a sort of “war cabinet” - legal war against the Mueller machine and possibly kinetic NK or Iran or both.

But that doesn’t mean he will go to war with NK or Iran. To succeed in tough diplomacy the other side has to believe that you have the will and capability to change their position. The reason NK has not yet caved is largely because all the evidence tells them they will be rewarded for resisting, and will lose if they compromise. Iran and Pakistan both resisted pressure from the US and have been paid handsomely for it. On the other hand states like Libya who agreed to give up their nuclear programs ended up invaded and overthrown.

Trump is taking a different tactic from previous Presidents. He is being insistent. So I admit the perceptions are there - but it doesn’t mean we are going to go all the way.
